Privacy policy

What personal data we collect, why we need it, and the choices you have.

LAST UPDATED · SEPTEMBER 2026
Draft. This page is placeholder text and will be replaced by counsel-approved wording before launch. Bikenance is in pre-launch and currently only operates a waitlist. This is not legal advice and does not form part of any agreement.

01What we collect

While Bikenance is in pre-launch, we only collect what you give us when you join the waitlist: your name, email, phone number and role — for funders, a rough funding range; for riders, the Harare area you ride in and your riding experience.

After launch, we would also collect identity documents and transaction history for funder KYC, and for riders their National ID, licence, proof of address, guarantor details, and GPS and usage data from the bike during the lease term. You'll be told before any of this is collected.

02Why we use it

Waitlist details are used only to contact you about launch and, for riders, to arrange vetting by phone or WhatsApp. After launch, data would be used to verify identity and meet anti-money-laundering obligations, to vet riders, to operate, insure and recover assets, and to process EcoCash repayments and distributions.

We will process personal data in line with Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] and the regulations made under it.

03What will be public

Nothing is recorded on-chain yet. Once assets are live, funding, deployment and repayment events will be recorded on a public blockchain against asset IDs. We will never publish names, phone numbers or documents on-chain.

04Sharing and retention

We share data only with service providers who help us run the platform (such as KYC, insurance, tracking and mobile-money partners like EcoCash), and with authorities where Zimbabwean law requires it. Where a provider processes data outside Zimbabwe, we will apply the safeguards the Act requires. We keep data only as long as we need it for these purposes or as the law requires, and you can ask to be removed from the waitlist at any time.

05Your rights

Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to certain uses. You can also complain to the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), the data protection authority. Contact us to make a request.
